Title: Coup De Grace
Series: Code 11 KPD SWAT #7
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: November 4, 2015
Michael was that guy.
The one that everyone was cautious of. Maybe it was the tattoos. Maybe it was the way he gave off a ‘don’t screw with me’ vibe. Maybe it was because he just told them to leave him the hell alone.
Regardless, people gave him his space.
He was screwed up, and everyone knew it.
He got tattoos because he liked the pain. He was standoffish. He didn’t have many friends outside of work. And the only thing he had going for him was that he was a good cop.
Everyone wondered about him, but no one asked.
The only one that didn’t treat him as if he was screwed up was Nikki Pena, a woman that he couldn’t have.
Nikki was that girl.
The one that everyone loved.
The one girl that he’d destroy if he let her have her way. What did she want?
But, he couldn’t give her him. She didn’t deserve what it would take to be with him.
So Michael would suffer in silence…or so he thought.
The woman who loved him had different ideas.
Although this is #7 in this series of amazing Swat member books each one reads as a new story. The characters from the past books do make appearances, but each book is about a new character with a new story.
With each book in this series I meet my new book crush. Michael is one that I have been waiting to learn more about in a long time. I was intrigued by his history and needing to know what the future would hold for him. The tension and sparks between Michael and Nikki have been obvious from the beginning yet they were not an easy couple. They had to work hard, be very honest with each other, and not let others get in their way. Their biggest obstacle is Michael’s fear of having children and Nikki’s dream of having them. I had high hopes that they could work through this and live happily ever after.
Lani Lynn Vale brought into the story mental illness. This is not an easy topic to handle. She manages to keep it tasteful and truthful. Each character in this storyline have their own issues, yet they are all realistic and relatable.
I recommend checking out Coup Dr Grace and this entire series. Lani Lynn Vale is an author that I always pick up.
